PIACERE DI CONOSCERTI è un progetto finalizzato all’incontro con gli immigrati, richiedenti asilo politico, ospitati nel piccolo centro del Villaggio del Pescatore nato all’inizio degli anni 50 per dare asilo agli esuli istriani. I giovani immigrati sono stati coadiuvati e invitati a fotografare, con i propri cellulari, il territorio ospitante, componendo un’interessante raccolta d’immagini che sarà in mostra assieme ad alcune testimonianze degli abitanti del Villaggio del Pescatore e degli stessi giovani ospiti. Un’occasione per riflettere sulla condizione umana, sul desiderio di migliorare la propria vita e sull’essere profugo nell’Europa di ieri e di oggi. Un confronto sotteso tra le vicende di un tempo e quelle che vedono coinvolti gli immigrati e i profughi attuali, fuggiti o espulsi anch’essi dalle loro terre d’origine. La conoscenza diretta crea nuovi motivi di convivenza, dialogo e integrazione, imprescindibili in una società orientata globalmente alla multiculturalità.

NICE TO MEET YOU is a project that aims at meeting the immigrants and the asylum seekers who are hosted in the small centre of “Villaggio del Pescatore” (literally “Fishmans Village”), which was founded in the early 50s in order to give refuge to the Istrian exiles. These young immigrants have been assisted and encouraged to take photographs of their host-territories with their phones. The ensuing interesting image collection will be displayed in a photography exhibition, together with some witnesses, both of the young immigrants and the inhabitants of Villaggio del Pescatore. This could be an occasion to reflect on the human condition, on the wish of improving one’s own life and on being a refugee in the Europe of the past and the present. This comparison connects the events of the past with those that involve immigrants, fugitives, refugees and exiled people of nowadays. The direct acquaintance between them and local people helps to create new grounds for cohabitation, dialogue and integration, which are unavoidable elements in a society that is globally oriented to multiculturalism.
